We are all unique and develop at different rates. Sometimes we need the help of a therapist to help us pronounce words, speak clearly, better communicate, learn to follow directions, learn to move our bodies and learn new ways to accomplish simple tasks. There are many different types of therapists working at LLA Therapy including speech therapists, physical therapists, behavior therapists, and more. Each of these individuals and the rest of the team at LLA Therapy want to help each child reach their full potential and be able to live life to the fullest. Offering speech-language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, reading therapy, and Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, LLA Therapy can help students of all ages excel at school and in their home life.

How did the business start?

Students with therapists receiving help

Troy McClowry is the current owner of LLA Therapy. Over the last 20+ years the company has evolved from providing speech only to adding physical therapy, occupational therapy, reading therapy and behavior therapy. Services have expanded to three additional clinics and over 90 school buildings in Northeast Ohio. LLA Therapy has eclipsed over 100 school and community partnerships across 18 northeast Ohio counties. The company prides itself on being owned and operated by a team of therapists and educational professionals; and to this day, emphasizes a whole family approach to each and every patient and student seen by their clinicians.

What challenges are you facing?

Classroom with stimulating equipment

The number of children in need of pediatric therapy services continues to grow. LLA Therapy is constantly looking to add more therapists to meet the growing needs of our families and communities. Having enough therapists and availability for after school and evening appointments is a real challenge.

Where are your customers and suppliers located?

Kids in therapy session

We service Northeast Ohio and work with families all over the region. Our offices are in Fairlawn, Hudson, Medina, Mentor. We also work with 90 school buildings and provide services directly to students in those buildings.

Does your company focus on any sustainability efforts?

Playground equipment in a classroom

The good news is our business went to electronic medical records a number of years ago which cut down on our paper usage. We utilize a few digital record keeping programs that allow us to communicate electronically with families, therapists and insurance providers. Our company utilizes a Google-based platform that allows us to collaborate and share information from any computer.

How does your business interact with government?

Physical therapy in action

LLA Therapy must follow licensing guidelines as set forth by the state of Ohio and all our therapists are licensed through the individual state credentialing boards. Since we work with many school districts we work closely with them in the delivery of our services to assist them in staying compliant.

How does someone get a job with you?

Students and therapists at a table

All of our positions are posted on our website and Indeed. Our Registered Behavior Technicians generally don’t have any college and come here for training. We make sure they have the skills they need to work with students.

Why do employees like to work here?

LLA Therapy is proud of the culture we have developed in our clinics and with the many schools we partner with. Our employees appreciate the support, training and benefits that we provide them. One of our yearly goals is to improve the employee experience. We do offer flexible hours and having four clinics and many school districts we are very successful in meeting both our employee needs and the companies needs for delivering therapy.
